WEST CARROLLTON – The road led directly to Rome, GA for one local soccer team this past weekend. The Southstars Rockers, based in West Carrollton, participated in the Girls 19 division at the Sport Source Junior-Senior Showcase. The girls ended up with a 1-0-2 record at the end of the weekend.
“The showcase was a great venue to get the girls playing together for the start of our upcoming season,” said John McVey, head coach of the Rockers. “There were a lot of college coaches here and a good experience for my younger, uncommitted players.”
The showcase was hosted by The Sport Source, a publisher of college guides for student-athletes looking to play sports at the college level. MORAINE – Soccer was well-represented at the annual Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau Ambassador Breakfast this year, held at the Mandalay Banquet Center in Dayton. Approximately 260 people were in attendance, including hospitality partners such as hoteliers, attraction operators, event planners and sporting event directors including the Warrior Classic, Creek Classic and the Mead Cup. TourneyCentral was also present as an event sponsor.
CENTERVILLE – TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is $1,500 richer this year thanks to the success of the annual Mead Cup Soccer Tournament, hosted by the CUSA Soccer Club each Labor Day Weekend at sites throughout the Dayton area. At the conclusion of the tournament, the Mead Cup presented a check to the local TOPSoccer program.
FAIRFIELD – According to its Web site, the 2007 Go-o-o-oalrilla Classic declared the following teams champions within their division.
MIDDLETOWN – Coach Florin Martin of the West Virginia U14 Lady Stingers says that the four and a half hour drive to Middletown for the 2006 Midfest Classic was well worth it. You might say that is a great statement since they are the U14 Silver Division Champions for this year.
CENTERVILLE – Scott Ebright has cancer. But that doesn’t appear to slow him down or stop him from seeing the sunny side of life, even in the rain.
DAYTON – The Dayton Marriott was a-buzz with activity as the team coaches registered their teams and picked up their official programs. They are all getting ready for the start of the 2006 Mead CUSA Cup soccer tournament. But it wasn’t all work for everyone.
EVANSVILLE – Battling below normal temperatures and rain, the Warrior Soccer Club claimed two division champion trophies and three finalist trophies at the fifth annual Veterans Invitational Tournament (VIT) held last weekend. The champion divisions were BU11Classic and GU11Classic. Finalists were BU17Premier, GU13Premier and GU14Premier.
Huber Heights – The Warrior Soccer Club, located in Huber Heights, Ohio is sending seventeen teams to the fifth annual Veterans Invitational Tournament (VIT) held in Evansville, Indiana on November 10-12. The Warrior teams range in age from U10 to U17. This is the largest number of Warrior teams that has ever attended the same tournament event.
FAIRFIELD – While shopping at your local grocery store for European cheese, you might walk under a fire truck hovering over 1,000 bottles of hot sauce. Not exactly your typical grocery trip, but for the people of Fairfield, Ohio it is not unusual.
MIAMITOWN – This weekend, 124 teams from Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and West Virginia will converge at Miami Whitewater in Miamitown, Oh. for the third annual Go-o-o-oalrilla Classic, presented by Jungle Jim’s.
LEBANON – The 2006 CincyChallenge concluded on Sunday afternoon at the Lebanon Sports Complex. 334 games were played over the weekend with over 12,000 participants.
LEBANON – Chicago native Jed Zayner, a member of the Columbus Crew, is out spreading a message of inspiration at this weekend’s Cincy Challenge Youth Soccer Tournament on behalf of Athletes In Action. Zayner was in a life-altering car accident his junior year of high school, just four years ago.
LEBANON – The Hi-5 Cincy Challenge is being held this weekend in Lebanon, Oh. The tournament is hosting 206 boys and girls teams ages U8-U14 from North and South Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and West Viginia.
